GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year. AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading-edge research caring for Tampa Bays hearts for over 35 years. The Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, also located at AdventHealth Tampa, leads the way in clinical and academic research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, advanced surgery and more contributing valuable knowledge that leads to tomorrows cures for conditions such as heart failure, cancer and other diseases. **The role you'll contribute:** Responsible for providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions to assist the surgeon in achieving optimal patient outcomes. This position also performs pre-operative and post-operative duties to facilitate proper patient care. This role functions under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and regulations. In addition, this position collaborates with the operating room team to ensure efficient room setup and turnover. Additionally, this role may function as a Surgical Scrub as needed. **The value you'll bring to the team:** Utilizes physician preference cards to set up operating suites and updates cards as instructed. Determines appropriate surgical equipment and supplies based on physician preferences. Achieves temporary and permanent hemostasis using appropriate techniques. Assists with body plane closures, wound dressing applications, and securing drainage systems. Provides visualization for operative sites through tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suction, and irrigation. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures, anticipating needs of the surgeon. Assists with positioning patients, using stabilizing equipment, and prioritizing patient comfort and safety. Maintains strict aseptic technique and monitors team members to ensure no breaks in technique, including performing surgical hand scrubs and donning gowns and gloves.
