Overview We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Technical Architect to join our enterprise ERP project team as an independent contractor. This role requires deep technical expertise across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (D365 F&O), including architecture, integrations, and complex customizations. The ideal candidate has strong client-facing skills, a finance background, and experience guiding teams through large-scale implementations. This senior-level position requires excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, consultants, and client stakeholders. Key Functions & Duties Lead the overall technical design and architecture of Dynamics 365 F&O implementations. Provide guidance on system configuration, custom development, integrations, and data migration. Architect and oversee customizations using X++, extensions, and other supported technologies. Ensure best practices for performance, scalability, and security in solution design. Lead integration architecture with external applications and platforms (e.g., Azure, legacy ERP, ISVs). Conduct code reviews and provide technical leadership to development teams. Translate client requirements into technical specifications and architectural solutions. Collaborate with Finance functional teams to align technical solutions with business processes. Support system testing, performance tuning, and deployment activities. Mentor client technical staff and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions. Responsibilities Act as the primary technical authority across all project phases. Engage in solution design workshops and technical discussions with client executives and stakeholders. Maintain detailed technical documentation, design artifacts, and solution roadmaps. Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure project milestones are achieved. Ensure that client-specific customizations are delivered successfully within scope and budget. Uphold professional communication and collaboration with project managers, team members, and clients. Required Experience 5+ years of technical ERP experience, including 7+ years with Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. Proven expertise in X++ development, customization, and extension frameworks. Strong knowledge of system integrations, APIs, and middleware solutions. Experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale D365 F&O implementations. Familiarity with core Finance modules and processes. Hands-on experience with performance optimization, troubleshooting, and deployment in production environments. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact at all levels of client organizations. Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams on high-visibility projects. Certifications Required Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert () Nice to Have Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps). Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot features and roadmap. Knowledge of Azure services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, Data Lake). Other Requirements Willingness and ability to travel Monday–Friday for the duration of the project. Independent contractor status (must provide own business entity/1099 eligibility).
