Job Title: Milling Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Milling Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in machine setup, CNC programming, machine operation, and quality control. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex blueprints for the machining of large parts.

Responsibilities

• Accurately load and secure large work pieces onto the machine using fixtures and clamping systems.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, including boring bars, large diameter milling cutters, and specialized tooling for complex operations.
• Align and reference work pieces using precision measuring tools.
• Set up and calibrate machine parameters such as feed rates, spindle speeds, and coolant flow.
• Interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings to create CNC programs using G-code.
• Edit and modify existing programs to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
• Utilize CAM software to generate CNC programs for complex geometries.
• Run CNC programs to perform machining operations like facing, boring, drilling, milling, and tapping on large parts.
• Monitor machine performance during operation, adjusting parameters as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet tolerances.
• Conduct thorough quality checks on finished parts using inspection equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of CNC setup/programming experience.
• Proven milling experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect work.
• Experience in CNC programming, particularly with Mazak lathe and Mazatrol.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Programming experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with Mastercam is a plus.
• Familiarity with Mazak Mazatrol is highly advantageous.

Work Environment

Our shop is very well-maintained and consistently seeks employee feedback to improve equipment and facilities. Employees have their own rolling workstations and enjoy a 4.5-day work week consisting of 40 hours, with flexible start times between 4 am and 8 am from Monday to Thursday, and a 4-hour half-day on Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
