We are seeking a Medical Director of CNS Early Assets, Global Medical Affairs, responsible for assets within the broader CNS TA portfolio with a specialization in Psychiatry and/or Neurology. This role is accountable for a subset of assigned assets within the CNS TA that align to the broader TA strategy determined by the Sr. Director, Franchise Lead CNS Early Assets.

Position Summary: The Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs, CNS Early Assets will support and execute the strategic vision for a select group of assets within the CNS TA (psychiatry and emerging neurology projects). The role reports to the Sr. Director, Global Medical Affairs, Franchise Lead CNS Early Assets and may include assets across US and Global Medical TA and asset-level strategies and plans. Assets may include treatments for serious illnesses with unmet needs in various stages of early development. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, KOLs, and stakeholders to implement asset-level medical affairs strategies and tactics that advance development and commercialization in the CNS space.

Key Responsibilities

• Align to the therapeutic strategy and support the strategic vision for the assigned assets or TA portfolio.
• Develop and execute medical strategic plans and initiatives for assigned assets based on unmet needs and medical value proposition aligned with the TA strategy.
• Represent Medical Affairs at US and Global governance meetings as needed; collaborate with cross-functional leads to implement the CNS TA strategy.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of TRPPs (target reimbursable product profiles) for assets in development where applicable.
• Support lifecycle management initiatives and planning for assigned assets as applicable.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and medical/advocacy societies within the assigned CNS disease areas.
• Act as a company representative and advocate in relevant medical and scientific communities for specific CNS areas.
• Engage with international scientific leaders, guideline committees, payers, public groups, and government officials about the companys emerging science.
• Ensure peer relations within Otsuka across functions at appropriate leadership levels (Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Global and US Marketing, Global Value and Real-World Evidence, etc.).
• Maintain scientific and medical affairs expertise relevant to the US and global healthcare landscape; knowledge of the US regulatory environment is required.
• Stay current on advancements, research, and publications in psychiatry and neurology; provide medical and scientific insights to internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor Medical Affairs trends and help the franchise and department stay ahead.
• Collaborate with regional medical leads, clinical development, global value and RWE, US and global commercial teams, market access, and regulatory affairs to ensure integrated global strategies and input into leadership discussions.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD), PhD, or PharmD with demonstrated experience in CNS Psychiatry or Neurology (preferably neuroinflammatory conditions).
• US Medical Affairs experience required, Global Medical Affairs experience preferred, with knowledge of applicable US regulations.
• Experience in translational medicine (T0T1) or early development (phase 1) assets in Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, or Clinical Development preferred.
• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry; product launch experience in the US preferred.
• Clinical or academic practice in CNS is preferred.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders, including KOLs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive, problem-solving approach.

Compensation : Minimum $205,368.00 Maximum $307,050.00, plus incentive opportunity. The range represents a typical pay range for roles hired in the United States and may vary by experience, skills, and internal equity. Actual pay will be within the established range.
