Overview Full-Time House Parent (Live-In Position) at Apex International Education Partners, LLC (APEX). The organization recruits and supports international students in U.S. secondary schools, promoting diversity and cultural awareness. The role involves living on the Mitchell College campus in New London, Connecticut, supervising international middle and high school students in a small residence hall with access to a private beach and waterfront views. The House Parent will independently manage daily operations and student care, with a part-time Resident Assistant supporting overnight responsibilities. This is a 10-month live-in position, with students arriving mid-August and departing mid-June. For the 2025-2026 academic year the residence will begin with 15 students and may grow to 25. All students attend nearby private day schools. Key Responsibilities Ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of all residence hall residents Build a welcoming, respectful, and nurturing home environment Provide informal mentoring and support for international students adjusting to life in the U.S. Enforce house rules and promote good conduct and community values Plan, organize, and execute regular fun events and teambuilding activities for students both on and off-campus Ensure consistent overnight supervision; coordinate with a part-time RA for coverage Remain on-call for emergencies or urgent needs during non-school hours Liaise with private school and APEX staff Manage basic scheduling, meal coordination (if needed), and parent communications Compensation, Benefits & Perks Salary: 45,000–50,000/year (10-month contract) Private, fully furnished apartment within the residence hall: One private bedroom for the House Parent Shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room with the Resident Assistant (RA) Option to live with a significant other or companion All utilities included: electricity, water, internet, heating/cooling Health, dental, and vision insurance options Private beach access and waterfront location with views of Long Island Sound Unique opportunity to live and work in a close-knit, international community Qualifications Fluency in English is required; Mandarin Chinese strongly preferred Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Prior experience supervising or working with youth (especially in residential, educational, or caregiving settings) Organized, dependable, and self-sufficient—able to manage the residence hall independently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Background in education, counseling, social work, or youth programs preferred CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Preferred Attributes Culturally aware and supportive of international students Friendly, approachable, and calm under pressure Able to set boundaries while fostering a home-like environment Flexible with evening and weekend hours How To Apply To apply, please submit your resume outlining your experience and qualifications relevant to this position at: #J-18808-Ljbffr Apex International Education Partners, LLC ("APEX")
