Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support our pathology billing operations by identifying and resolving missing patient information. This role is critical to ensure clean claims and minimizing denials.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities

• Review billing queues for missing patient demographics and insurance details
• Contact referring physician offices to obtain missing data (e.g., insurance, address, DOB)
• Update billing systems with accurate patient information
• Collaborate with coding and billing teams to ensure claims are complete and compliant
• Track and report patterns in missing data to improve upstream workflows

Required Skills & Qualities

• Dependable and punctual with strong attention to detail
• Fast learner with ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Excellent communication skills, especially when working with physician offices
• Comfortable navigating EHR systems and billing platforms
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Team-oriented with a proactive mindset

Preferred Experience

• 12 years in medical billing, preferably in pathology or laboratory services
• Experience working with insurance verification and claim corrections
• Knowledge of HIPAA and payer-specific documentation requirements

Supervisory Responsibility

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment
