The IT Assistant Director provides vision and leadership in supporting the development and implementation of digital technology initiatives while supporting the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the daily operations and management of the IT Department. This role leads the exploration of digital innovations to enhance the customer journey, oversees the development and operation of digital projects to drive efficiency and customer experience, and works with IT and Executive Directors to plan and execute the Tribe's digital transformation.
The individual ensures IT systems and services remain reliable, secure, and responsive, while also conceiving new digital products aligned with the Tribe's platform strategy. Additional responsibilities include coordinating projects, supervising staff, supporting budget administration, implementing departmental policies and procedures, and serving as a liaison with internal stakeholders and external partners. This position fosters collaboration, ensures service excellence across digital channels, and upholds the Department's mission, vision, and value.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline is required. Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in a digital and customer-focused, director-level role. Prior experience in digital transformation or developing and adapting business practices into digital delivery channels. An equivalent combination of education/training and experience will be considered. Information technology certifications such a Security Manager (CISM) certification; Project Manager Professional (PMP) Certification, or/and Cisco Certified Network Professional certification is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Demonstrated leadership in digital and data management, digital product development, and digital transformation initiatives.
Demonstrate In-depth knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to digital business channels. Demonstrated leadership in problem solving, change management, process improvement and strategic planning. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel extensively and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
